Born to the middle working class with no siblings, Minyoung had humble beginnings being the child of two immigrants wanting a better life. She was born in Austin, Texas, United States while her father had moved from his business ventures. The family returned to South Korea after chasing the American Dream deteriorated the family's financial status, though they still held on to what they could. They settled back to Gwangju when she was still in elementary school, continuing to ensure that their mistakes would not chase them ever again.
Her eyes had always seen a muted world. Only finding out that the child was not very good at identifying which is purple, which is grey, and having difficulty telling what is blue—despite this, Minyoung had always been the kind to play around with making crafts. Her mother always told her she was too focused on such things than her academics but proved her wrong by being part of the nation's top students in her high school years, enough to earn her a scholarship that would begin her return to the US and pursue her dreams. Her parents did not approve of the decision, worried their daughter will get caught in a similar fate as them and it was the last genuine conversation she had held with them before leaving. It was a lot of sacrifice and hardships, being alone most of the time to ensure her efforts were not wasted. She spends 5 years in San Francisco, with a dream of working in the realm of fashion and marketing.
She returns to South Korea for her dreams and permanently being in the outskirts of Seoul, working with the industries in which she can excel. At the moment it is difficult due to her parent's sparse support and little to no contact, she somehow makes it work. She makes friends along the way but none stay long enough to wish her well on her life, which she blames partly for her decision to focus on her work first. Living off the little things and paying off what she can with what she had made is how her day goes, but she always wishes things could be lighter on her shoulders. She didn't want the constant repeat anymore.
Her personality comes off serious at first, because of duties and her mindset of not to fail- to prove that she is worth something. But underneath all the serious tones, she is delightfully in every aspect, always looking for a silver lining.

Minyoung's grandmother is her closest parent figure after her parents have partially disowned her. She dedicated her tattoo 'you're my favorite' on her left rib cage, a saying her grandmother had always told hershe is meticulous when it comes to organizing anything and everything, a habit coming from her tailoring daysshe keeps a little notebook to write down things of she thought of through out the day, usually a list of things she needs to finish before going to bedin college, Minyoung was notorious for being rude, however this rumor only spread after she stood up to a teacher who accused her of plagarizing someone's artdue to a nervous habit, she can do pen flips and tricksalthough she likes sweet things, she doesn't appreciate overly sweet desserts such as chocolate on chocolatevery good at keeping secrets, but not to those she holds dearly Minyoung and Minhyuk are cousins from their mother's side.
